How to specify
Villas concentrate budget into fewer, larger statements — grand entrance floors, bookmatched feature walls, oversized islands. Large format and continuous veining dominate the specification.
Recommended materials & thickness
| Material | Thickness | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Marble | 20 mm | Entrance and stair flooring, bookmatched feature walls — the classic villa statement. |
| Sintered Stone | 12 mm | Feature walls and slim table tops; light enough for adhesive fixing on flat substrates. |
| Quartzite | 20 mm | Marble looks at granite-grade hardness for the working kitchen. |
| Cabinets | — | Cabinet packages matched to the stone tops avoid the colour mismatch that ruins villa fit-outs. |
Design & installation notes
- Bookmatching needs pairs from adjacent slabs — reserve slab numbers at order time, not at installation.
- Decide stair nosing profiles and riser material before slab allocation, not after.
- Large-format floors need 3 mm flatness under a 3 m straightedge, or budget for grinding later.
Care
- Entrance matting cuts the maintenance cost of large marble floors more than any sealer will.
