Bathroom

How to specify

A bathroom is a water-management problem wearing a beauty contest. Waterproofing, slip resistance and joint planning matter more than which marble you pick.

Recommended materials & thickness

MaterialThicknessWhy
Tiles600×1200 mm / 9 mmWall cladding: fewer joints, consistent supply, marble looks without the upkeep.
Marble18–20 mmVanity tops with undermount basins — the surface guests actually touch.
TilesR11 mosaicShower floors: small formats let the 2% fall to the drain actually work.
Sintered Stone6 mmShower wall panels with minimal joints — less grout, less mould.

Design & installation notes

  • Tank the wet zone before any stone goes in; stone is a finish, not a waterproofing layer.
  • Shower floors need a 2% fall to the drain — fix the drain position before slab allocation.
  • Size the extractor for the actual room volume; ventilation is what keeps grout lines clean.

Care

  • Squeegee the glass daily; reseal natural stone shower floors every six months.
